Sincere sympathy to the Hunt family on the sad passing of Vincent.

I only met Vincent twice, but he had a huge impact on me even before I met him at all. I was brought into the Hunt family in 1997, and immediately treated like family by everyone - even by by Vincent, who lived 5000 miles away! He would send me cards with lovely little messages that made me feel part of the family, and I couldn't wait to meet him. When I did, I was amazed by his humility and kind demeanour. Vincent was an incredibly talented and intelligent individual, but moreover, he was such a warm, compassionate, empathetic human being. A truly singular, lovely person. Rest in Peace Vincent. My condolences to all those whose lives he impacted.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam I was in Clontead national school with the younger members of the Hunt family. I remember Matthews Dad as a garda in coachford with Sgt Creagh and Garda Smith.
I also joined An Garda Siochana and was once asked at an interview if I knew the LAPD Chief who cycled from Coachford to Macroom to secondary school. My sympathy to you all

I am reminded of growing up in Coachford many years ago and I well remember the Hunt family. In particular I recall Vincent's parents, Tom and Maria. Tom was a well respected member of the Garda Siochàna and Maria was a good friend of my own mother. Tempus fugit.

I remember growing up and listening in on Vincent and grandad Brians weekly phone calls, hearing many stories of Vincent’s time in the police force, always thinking he was one of the coolest men to have come from Ireland. My late father often mentioned Matthew Vincent and was proud of his achievements in the LAPD.
