I was very sad to hear of the passing of Mattie Ryan. He was a powerful musician that I had the privilege of playing along side in the Tulla Ceili Band as a young teenager. He was lovely man, a shy person who was the backbone of the Tulla Ceili Band for many years. My condolences to his wife Marie and all his family. RIP Mattie.

Sincere sympathy to Marie,David and the Ryan family. Mattie was an integral part of the Tulla Ceili Band for nearly 20 years after joining the Band in the early sixtiest.
His genius accordian playing is clearly notable on the Claddadh Ring record which was released in 1970.
This recording is recognised as being one of the greatest Ceili Band recordings of it's time!
