I am so saddened to hear of Maugie's untimely death. Blackrock will not be the same without her, and her beautiful smile.
My deepest condolences to you all on the sad occasion.
John, Dolores and all Maugie's family, deepest sympathy to you all. Maugie was without doubt one of the most cheerful, positive and elegant lady's I have met. Will miss her wit and company on the hills. RIP Maugie.
I have been trying to find the words to express the sadness I feel, but they escape me.
Maugie was an incredible woman, full of joy and laughter, and I loved how practical she was. It was a privilege to be your friend
I love you and I miss you.
John, Dolores, Ann and the rest of the family, I send you my love.
The news of Maugie's death is hard to process. She had such extraordinary vitality and resilience, I had absolutely no doubt that I would see her again this summer and enjoy a drive out into the country, as we usually did on my trips back to Galway, picking up the conversation easily from the year before. We'd known each other since the early 1950s -- probably since Sister Elizabeth's class in the far-from-merciful Convent of Mercy. I am so grateful for this long friendship and am finding it hard to believe that the magnificent Maugie is truly gone. Sending heartfelt sympathy to John as well as to Mary, Ann and Dolores.
To John, Mary, Anne, Dolores & family, we were so saddened to hear of Maugie's untimely passing rip. Due to unforeseen circumstances we couldnt be with ye. Know that you are all in our thoughts, hearts & prayers. We feel privileged to have known Maugie and enjoyed many a chat & laugh at the Creamery. Maugie will be sorely missed. I will carry her memory on every camino.
Dear John. Hearing just 2day that Maugie had passed away came as a great shock. When we met some months ago now, Maugie was so much part of everything. She is now at peace, in a new life of love + reward, in return for her inate goodness + generosity of spirit. My deepest sympathy to you John + the extended Francis family.
I was very sorry to hear of Maugie’s recent passing. Deepest condolences to John and to her sisters, Mary, Ann and Dolores. I was away and was sorry to have missed her funeral. I knew Maugie as a very friendly good humoured colleague in Ross House where she was deeply committed to her work in Traveller Education. In more recent times she was a loyal attendee at our monthly retirement gatherings in Salthill, often dropping in on her way to or from a swim in Blackrock. We will miss her. Rest in peace Maugie.
Our heartfelt sympathies to John, Mary, Ann & Dolores & their families on the passing of Maugie.
May she rest in peace.
That photo captures so much of Maugie's essence: fun, laughter and an ability to launch into a conversation as if we were picking up from a chat of last week. I met her seldom in recent years but growing up knew her as one of the well-known Francis family of Woodquay driving around with their delightful parents in that vintage car.
I was truly shocked to hear of her sudden death and can only image how you John, Mary, Anne and Dolores, and her extended family will be left with a gaping hole.
But you will also have the pearls (appropriate that Margaret means pearl) that she left behind and I know there were many and eclectic.
May her joyful soul rest in peace and may be wonderful times you shared bring you solace.
My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear sister Maugie.
May her gentle soul rest in peace

She was one of a kind, from whom positivity, fun and empathy emanated. Coffee break in Ross House, with Maugie in our midst, was always life-giving.
