I knew Maura through our many parties which was held in the National League of the Blind in Hill Street. She was a kind and gentle person and always up for a chat. Reading was her passion . We got to know each other in recent years when we started chatting every week by phone during Covid. I looked forward to our regular calls. Maura was such a good-natured person with the ability to bring life and colour into the stories she shared about her own life and times. We laughed often.
I treasure her friendship dearly and pray that she is now at rest with your dear dad and brothers.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Auntie Maura’s passing on Monday. Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this difficult time.

Auntie Mara was a truly remarkable woman. Her strength, independence, and unwavering positivity were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Living with complete blindness for so many years and continuing to manage her life with such quiet dignity was nothing short of extraordinary.

As my father’s sister, she held a special place in our family — and now, with her passing, we say goodbye to the last of that cherished generation. Her memory will live on in the stories we share, and in the example she set through her resilience and grace.
