Maura was in the 1965-1970 class in St.
Raphael’s convent Loughrea. As a classmate, I remember her as a gentle, dreamy soul who carried herself with style and panache and an underlying steely determination.

The girls from that class went many different directions and I was surprised and delighted to happen across Maura when I was visiting St. John’s Newfoundland many years later, and later still in 2007 in Ireland. Maura and I had long telephone conversations about our lives, including the car accident that curtailed Maura’s dreams and caused her such physical and emotional pain. But, true to form, she soldiered on. I am so sorry that Maura has gone; several from that class have also gone. May they all be at peace now.

To Richard, Abbey and Robyn; Sean and Nonie and Michael; I am sorry for your loss. Your beloved Maura will surely find peace in the next world where no sorrow or pain will hold her beautiful spirit back from flying high.
