My deepest condolences to the Duffy and Gilligan families on Maura’s passing. She was a former teacher of mine and I have fond memories of her. She had a great love of the creative arts – theatre, dance, music and painting, and she encouraged her students to pursue them. Maura was a great friend to our family and we enjoyed having her visit our home throughout the years. We also had the great pleasure of knowing her sister, Kay, who was also a great friend to our family. May they both rest in peace.

I have lovely memories of the numerous social outings, holidays, and fun times with Maura and Kay over the years, which I will treasure.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news of Maura's passing. I met her at Ballinameen N.S when I worked there. She was such lovely company and we had great laughs. She had so many stories about school in the 'old days'. Sincere condolences to all Maura's family and friends.

Great memories of her famous Christmas Cake, one of the top prizes in the GAA Christmas Draw for many years. Also her willingness to recall the script and story of the novelty act which won the Scór All Ireland in 1973 which was performed again years later. Her county and connacht recitation successes will always remain a reminder of her fun character.

Dearest Maura - the greatest Sister-in-Law/Auntie we could have ever wished for. It is hard to imagine a world without your words of wisdom, cheeky humour and knowing smile. Our summers weren’t complete without a dose of you and Cootehall. Thank you for the laughs, the long-into-the-evening chats of guidance (and bit of nonsense) and, of course, the generous measures! We will remain eternally grateful to have had you in our lives.
