It waz with great sadness that i heard of the passing of my great friend Maura, we worked side by side for many years,i remember her help and advice in my early years in Great Southern Hotel,
Maura gave many young person a start in GSH and ensured they were not only trained in but looked after with flexible working hours for their family or if in college, she also ensured they had at least one good meal a day,many continued with a career in Hospitality and others brought their skills into their chosen career,Maura also knew that a night out was a well earned reward and she would be front and Center looking after her staff
Maura will be missed by all those lucky enough to have worked with her ,I will raise a glass in memory of Maura and echo her old Mantra
"We are here for a good time not a ling Time, RIP My good friend.

I was so sad to hear about the passing of dear Maura . What a great Lady she was when I worked with her many years ago before I left Ireland. My condolences to her family and may god be kind to her . Rest in peace Maura .

So sorry to hear of Maura's passing, condolences to all her family at a sad time. Maura gave myself and a number of friends our first part-time jobs, in the wash-up area of the kitchen in the former Great Southern Hotel on Eyre Square when we were just teenagers. I actually met my now-wife in that hotel and it's no stretch to say she played an unwitting part in that. Maura was a force to be reckoned with, a legend between the walls of the GSH and far beyond. Those of us that worked in that wash-up back in the day talk about her still, with fond memories. RIP
