My sincerest condolences to you all.

Cousin Mary (Maura) was one of life’s joyful people, a smile never far from her beautiful face and a ready laugh.

She had the most wonderful sense of humour and was great fun to be with. During our youth, my sister, Susan, brother, Peter and I used to visit Maura and Michael when they lived in Dublin and Blarney and were always made most welcome. I also went to visit Maura and Michael and Phil in Rhode Island when I first visited America and latterly in Tralee at No.2 Park Lane. I last saw Maura in September 2019 (see photo below).

Please God, Maura is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Michael and all her many family members who went before.

When my mother, Nora, lost her mother at the age of four, she went to live with her cousins and Auntie Hannah and Uncle ‘Ned’ took care of her until she left to join her sister, Kathleen, in England. During those early years, Maura was like a sister her. Our mum always spoke very highly of all her adopted siblings.

I’m so sorry I cannot be with you in person but I shall pray for the repose of Maura’s soul at my own Mass in Sevenoaks tomorrow morning.
