Sending our most sincere sympathy to Micheál and all of Maureen’s family and friends. I am so happy that my family had the pleasure to meet our dear cousin Maureen and her wonderful husband Micheál. Visiting with them was truly one of the highlights of our visits to Ireland. They are absolutely one of the loveliest couples we have ever met!!! May Maureen rest in peace and may Micheál be comforted in knowing how special she was to so many. May the family find peace and comfort from all of the wonderful memories she has left behind.

I had the greatest of respect for Maureen as a teacher. Her presence in the classroom was such that she never needed to raise her voice to command respect. She was a very articulate woman with a marvellous economy of words. She never waffled. She was straight to the point and always on point. She knew chemistry inside out and taught it with an enthusiasm that was infectious. Her students got good grades in consequence of her teaching but her lasting legacy is the very many students she imbued with an interest in the sciences. While I only knew Maureen as a teacher I am aware that outside the class room and in retirement she had many and various interests including the Irish language. Maureen's too short life was a busy life, well and truly lived. May she rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear of Maureen’s passing.. I was fortunate to be taught by her for Leaving Cert and she was an amazing teacher. In later years It was always lovely to see her at mass on visits home and she always had a kind word. She roped me in to interview my Dad in recent years for one of her many projects. There was no saying no to Maureen. I will remember her with great fondness. May her gentle soul RIP

Maureen was an exceptional person and inspirational teacher who brightened up many a day in Mean Scoil Muire in the early 1980s. I was blessed to have Maureen as my chemistry teacher and basketball coach. A very popular and gifted teacher, who gave selflessly of herself to her students inside and outside the classroom. May your soul rest in peace Maureen. I will always remember your care and your smile. Sadly missed, forever in my heart ❤️

I was so sad when I read of Maureen's death. I shared many happy days with her and Micheàl on tours to places of interest in our respective counties due to our mutual fascination with local history. My sincere sympathy to the husband Miceal, family and friends of Maureen on her recent passing.
My last meeting with her was at a Siamsa in Swinford where she was promoting the sale of a local history book. In it she had written an article about a story in a stone. Apparently they were cleaning up a local cemetery and came across some nice Irish script in a headstone. She discovered this related to a woman who had Connemara connections and died around Christmas in the early years of the last century, in the ruins of what we called Murray’s orchard. It brought back fond memories of our childhood roaming around those Killaser hills.
May the Lord have mercy on her kind soul.
