We are very sorry to see that Maureen has gone to greener pastures. She was a great friend to us around 41 years ago when Gerry worked for Iggy Madden. Eoin, Cormac and Fergal were very eager to learn how to drive trucks and forklifts then. Ronan was only a toddler then. Many’s a cup of coffee I had in their house and I was always welcomed by the family. Maureen and I socialised in Students Bar for the odd tipple. We also joined the gym, but we never went! I was reminded about that on Tuesday by Gerry. Unfortunately we lost touch as we moved to Dublin. Those were the days when people had time for one another and weren’t so busy. Good friends are hard to come by.
