For all of us who worked with Maureen in ChildVision news of this beautiful, fun loving, energetic woman’s death has been met with utter shock and a deep, palpable sadness. Maureen was a marvellous social care worker, naturally kind, compassionate, frequently joyous to be around, full of stories and really loved by so many young people. It was a privilege to work with Maureen: she was a point of light.

I was so saddened when I heard of Maureen’s passing. We worked together in St Joseph’s/Childvision up until her retirement. She was so loved by all her colleagues and students she cared for, always wore a smile and never missed a day in all her years. Maureen loved life, especially the people she shared it with and generously gave her time to everyone around her. Her smile and style lit up every room.

I was heartbroken to hear of Maureens passing such a fun, beautiful and vibrant person. Maureen was full of energy laughter and kindness. We shared so much of our time doing the diploma course in Childvision and I’ll never forget how she lifted me up some days and got me through the course. I would have given up a few times and she’d say Ach Trish you’ve come this far you’re not giving up now!

I met Maureen in September ‘97 when we started our social care training in the DIT. From day one, I admired her style & energy. There she was at 9am, having got the (adored) kids out to school, cycled to Rathmines, with an over flowing lunch box, flask of coffee, little chocolate bars, ready for what the schedule would throw at her - sociology, psychology, social policy… not a bother ! She sat (as a very diligent student) at the very top of the class, at times she turned & said “achh Tracy”, when myself & the other (less diligent) students at the back of the class were not on point!
Following our studies we worked together in ChildVision for many years up until she retired.
I met Maureen many times since in Sandymount as she shopped / on her daily walks with her neighbour & friend…
Maureen- you were an absolute treasure. A legend. A force to be reckoned with.
