Over the past 25 years, Maurice Byrne has been my friend and mentor, leaving an indelible mark on my life and helping me to become the man I am today. For many years, we weathered the challenges of his farm together—working through harsh snowy lambing seasons and long summers fencing his fields —all the while discussing history, politics, and the world at large. After the passing of my own father, Maurice was there for me as a positive role model during my teenage years, teaching me the values of hard work and humility. As I moved away from Moneystown we remained friends and I would make sure to visit him for our bi-yearly chat. For me Maurice's legacy lives on in the memories we created together and the lessons he taught me. His influence, kindness, and friendship will forever remain a cherished memory for me. I would like to express my deepest and most sincere sympathy to Ann, Peter and Barry on their loss.
