So sorry to hear of Junior’s passing. He was invariably the first person I would meet at the Daniel O’Connell Summer School, smiling a warm welcome to me in the foyer of the library on the Friday morning after coming down from Cork and then the chats about local history and geography and football throughout the day and again on the Saturday in Derrynane. He was a genuinely lovely man - my sincerest sympathies to you all on your sad loss.

So sorry to hear of Junie's sudden passing. I have very fond memories of working with him in St John Bosco's secondary school during the early 80s.May his soul rest in peace. Sincere condolences to Phil and all the family.

I got a big shock & was greatly saddened to hear of the sudden death of the peerless Junior Murphy. My heartfelt sympathy to the Murphy & Keane families on their great loss.
As a young teacher in the ‘Sem’ , I was unexpectedly landed with a Leaving Cert. Honours class. I was advised to speak to Junie, ‘the best geography teacher in Kerry’. I did , he willingly gave me a crash course & I never looked back thereafter.
Also, When my brother, Fr. Larry, was appointed PP in Caherciveen , he was venturing into the unknown to a certain degree. I said to him that it was a great posting, because there were great GAA people there that would make him feel at home immediately. I gave him a list of names, Junior being one of the key ones, & Fr. Larry never looked back since. either. Fear iontach, fiail, flaithiúil ba ea Junie. Codhladh sámh,,a chara. RIP.
