So sad to here of my life long friend Maurice passing .. we played schoolboy together with Galty Celtic and many other games over the years .. a very good player was Maurice .. we had fantastic times over the years and it’s only when you look back you realise how special those years were ..
he dressed dapper in those years and always turned out tremendous.. drive nice cars had it all .. a real character but so nice and humble with it .. I could go on and on about Maurice .. my sincere condolences to all his family and army of friends who were lucky to know Maurice .. rest in peace my great friend you will be sadly missed in so many ways … 🙏🙏🙏

The memory of playing for James Gate against Workmans club in Rochestown Ave on one of the worst pitches that ever existed on an absolutely manky wet windy day, dressing rooms just two steel containers. Gaffer pulling his hair out waiting on Maurice,no sign so we took to the pitch with 10 players.15 minutes into the game with the wind howling and rain lashing down this vision appears at the entrance to the ground,yep, it was Maurice, in a white suit, black silk shirt and of course his medallion and looking rough didn't stop Maurice netting two crackers.
Sadly missed.Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Maurice. He was a special talent on the football pitch like his brothers Mick and Bobby. I still remember playing for the Gate away to Pegasus and the ball came to Maurice with his back to the goal. He was outside the box and turned to volley the ball into the top corner. Still the best goal I have ever seen. Sincere condolences to all the family. May Maurice rest in peace.

I will always picture Maurice strutting down the street, cowboy boots, open necked shirt, gold necklace and the scent of his perfume wafting down the Drive.
Myself and my pals secretly called him "Medallion Man" and we would call his name and wolf whistle him just to see if he would turn around, which he sometimes did in bewilderment.
Always a gentleman, polite, funny and charming and a great story teller with an endearing laugh.
