Only heard yesterday of Vinnie' passing. To Paul and the Caprani family our sincere condolences on the passing of your very special dad. From all of the condolences we have read he was clearly a very special person and entertained many with his poetry, wit, and storytelling. May he rest in peace.
Only hearing of Vincent's passing today - sincere condolences to his family and many friends, he was a very special man who was so interesting to listen to. We had the pleasure of recording Vincent for radio on a few occasions and he was always so generous with his time. Such knowledge! R.I.P - Jho Harris & Sinéad McClure

So Sorry to hear of your Dads passing I was just updating my Ancestry tree as I discovered awhile back I am connected on my fathers OMalley / Cowley line so I was thrilled to remember when he wrote a good wishes poem for us 1988 🇨🇦 “Thirst-Day club Amiens St” and presented it and one of his books 📚 to my hubby Brendan in Graces pub with all the names of those present in the printing trade. Happy Memories

Our deepest sympathy to Sue, Paul, Joe and families. We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a very dear friend. He will be sadly missed .His passing has left a big void in our lives but we are all the better for having known him. He was multi talented with a great sense of humour and wit never a boring moment in his company May he rest in peace.
On behalf of myself, Ken Tuohy, and my colleague Peter Grogan, our sincere condolences to all of Vinnie's family. During the making of our radio documentary 'Rowdy Rhymes' (103.2 Dublin City Fm) some years ago, we got to know this fabulously talanted man known affectionately to his friends and colleagues as
'Capper'. His ability to entertain 'at the drop of a hat' was unsurpassed and his many humourous poetic monologues were the stuff of legend. But most of all, we got to know Vinnie the man - a gentleman and a scholar if ever there was one: Vinnie the family man, the printer, the trade union official and a friend to many, was as authentic as you could get. His lifetime relationship with his late wife Mary, was at the heart of who he was. Their shared love of opera recalled many fond memories which he shared with us, as he did also, along with his retired printing colleagues, the many stories and experiences lived over a lifetime in the industry. These too were peppered with the 'Capper's' wit and poetic discourse. To his many friends and most especially to his family, Peter and I extend our condolences on the passing of Menotti Vincent Caprani, a.most beloved gentleman of humour, charm and grace.

We are all greatly saddened by the passing of our dear friend Vinnie, a truly wonderful person and volunteer at the National Print Museum. Always on hand to take the train from Malahide to help out with the many ideas we had to attract visitors to the Museum. Vinne's wit and good humour was always present and our long running joke that he had a Linotype or two for sale kept us all amused. Sincere condolences to all his family, rest in peace Vinnie

Sorry to hear of the death of Vinny. He was a lovely friendly man.
My sincere condolences to all the Caprani family on their sad loss. At this time when death seems to be permeating the air and so many close friends were passing on, I was particularly saddened to learn of the death of my old friend and comrade Vinny Caprani. Vinny was a man who exuded fun and excitement at all times and lifted the hearts of all who knew him. He was a loyal trade union representative who worked long and hard for his fellow workers in the print industry and an individual of great versatility and talent. All his writings were a wonder for their human insight as were his rowdy compositions or serious observations about the world around him. His Italian and Joycean influences combined with a natural Dublin wit made him a remarkable, unique character and much loved character. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten."

Hi Susan,
Very sad news and our sympathy to you and your family.
Your Dad was a lovely man and a joy to listen too. He had great knowledge of Irish history and I sure he was very knowledgeable on world history. Many years ago I bought your Dad's book A View From the Dart. I will source this book again to read it again and when I am back in Dublin I complete the journey on the Dart with the book.
Again sincere Sympathy to you and your family. May He Rest In Peace.

So sorry to hear the news of Vinny's passing. Such a great man, with a wonderful mind & intellect. An infectious personality and as a young kid growing up in Chalfont, I can say the very first celebrity I ever met! Used to love his recitals in the cricket club, his turn of phrase and distinctive voice. A thorough gentleman, admired and loved by everyone who met him. Rare enough you can say it but Vinny was a true legend. My deepest sympathies to Suzie, Paul, Joe & family. Vinny is in our thoughts and prayers. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. RIP Vinny

Our sincere condolences on the passing of our dear friend Vinny. It was always a pleasure to serve him in the Post Office. Such a kind, generous and interesting man. He continues to be missed. Thinking of all his family at this sad time.
From 1979 until at least1993 Vinny Caprani frequently contributed articles to Bord Failte's magazine Ireland of the Welcomes and had many chats with our then designer the late Jan de Fouw; they both brought so much talent to Ireland's printing world as reflected in the National Print Museum in Beggar's Bush. May Vinny rest in peace and may those who loved him find comfort in their many memories of a delightful interesting man! Vale.
