May I offer my sincere condolences to all the Heatley family on the loss of their father, Howard. Though neighbours, we rarely met; but I always appreciated the conversations I did have with him.

I think I first met Howard when I was a small boy in the 1960s and my grandmother took me for a walk along Ballyman Road. Howard stopped to speak to my grandmother, and I and one of my brothers were introduced to him.

The last time I spoke with Howard was at one of the Victorian Harvest Festivals, where we discussed his steam traction engines and his collection of vintage tractors.

May he rest in peace.
