I was very shocked and saddened to learn of Mervyn's passing. In my brief time dealing with him on business matters I was struck by his good humour and his professionalism. Condolences to his family and friends.

I had worked quite a lot with him over a long number of years - his intensity, enthusiasm and energy were always amazing and it's hard to believe that has all come to an end - especially at such a young age.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Mervyn's untimely passing. I knew Mervyn for over 30 years both personally and professionally. He was a man of immense integrity, energy and capacity for hard work. Highly intelligent and a wicked sense of humour. Gone too soon.

Mervyn was very enjoyable company and an exceptional host at the races. We loved his zest for life, his zany sense of humour & the way he used spontaneously burst into song for no immediately apparent reason. Still not sure I fully understand all the motivations that prompted his musical outbursts.
Our hope is that the knowledge that he had such a positive impact on so many people will help you through your loss.
It was a privilege to have known him & an honour to be considered his friends.

Mervyn was one of a kind, a raconteur and a hard working and passionate advocate for the nursing home sector. I worked closely with Mervyn over many years in INHO and NHI as Mervyn served with passion on the Board of Directors. He was a visionary, full of ideas and infectious enthusiasm for care of the older person.

Always asking about my family and and sharing stories about his own girls. We enjoyed many a good full blooded conversation on sport and politics.

When I first started in the nursing home sector, Mervyn’s wisdom and guidance meant a great deal to me. He generously shared his knowledge and experience, helping me navigate my early days in the nursing home sector.

It was always a pleasure to be in his company and I always felt the better for it. He was one of life’s good guys and he will always be remembered.
