My deepest sympathies on the sad passing of Mervyn (fondly known to his subordinates as "Wizzy"!).

My deepest symapathy to Mervyn's family on his passing. He was my first boss in Irish Lights and I also came across him in my rugby playing days as a referee's assesor. Rest In Peace.

Happy memories of his welcoming smile and easy unaffected manner, in 4 Dunluce Road and anywhere else we met him. Dear Wendy

Deepest sympathies at Mervyn's death. He was a tremendous friend to all his contemporaries at The Kings Hospital in the 1930's and subsequently to fellow students at Trinity College Dublin in the 1950s.

Dad 'GHM' - Gordon Hinchliff Mitchell has always held Mervyn in the highest esteem.

Even more so as if it had not been for Mervyn persuading him to step into the shoes of another mutual friend of theirs unable accompany Mervyn to Tossa del Mar in 1955, Dad would never have met Pat who became his beloved wife from Fife. Hence, thank you Mervyn for making my existence possible and for his lovely note to Dad in November expressing regrets at not being able to join Dad's 90th Celebratory lunch. Ditto to both of you for being at Mum's funeral in 2002.

This has been read to Dad who is "delighted with what" is here. We will try to be with you tomorrow virtually from Dad's computer to support you. Shayne (my older sister) will be very sorry to hear of Mervyn's death too - we've known both of you all our lives.

It was the kindness of Mervyn and Dad's contemporary and dear friend Harold Clarke who notified us over night.

Condolences to the Wisdon family. Mervyn was a fellow member of Association of Referees Leinster. . . Mervyn always made me feel very welcome to Clontarf RFC when I visited to assess referees.

Sincere condolences to Mervyn's family, Wendy, John and Neil. Mervyn representing RDGC was my partner in many inter club competitions. He served very well on the RDGC tournament committe in the 80's. He was also a member of the RSPGS and I have many happy memories of playing with him in the Railway Society. Rest in peace.
