Michael Brock

Although I can't say I ever had the pleasure of knowing Michael, from the many many positive stories and regales of his impact on the club over the years I know he was truly a special person.

I know that the Milltown GAA club will mourn the sad passing of Mick, who was a cherished figure to his family and friends and whose legacy stretches far beyond the sidelines of our pitches. A fantastic underage coach during his time with the club a few short decades ago, Mick’s passion, patience, and quiet encouragement helped shape not only great footballers, but great people.

He gave his time freely, his wisdom generously, and his heart fully to the young players of Milltown. His influence still echoes today — in stories shared, in values instilled, and in the deep respect held for him by all who knew him.

Mick’s memory will never fade from Milltown. His impact on our club and community is lasting, and the players that he coached are all the better for having known him.

My sincere and deepest sympathy to Doreen, Tim, Ann, Sheila and Tom on the very sad passing of Mick. Mick was a very special person to me, he introduced me to football and the Milltown Gaa club, only for Mick I may never have got involved in the game or our great club. Mick travelled from his home to Emper to collect me for training and matches for years, he would arrive at the house in his green Vauxhall Viva get out come into the house ask my father could he bring me to football and that he would bring me back safe and sound, and he always did. Mick always called me Marty, I remember Mick as an exceptional coach and motivator, he had such a gentle manner in getting his message to you to get the very best out of you as a player, "come on Marty you can do better" with an arm around your shoulder, that is all it took to get a positive response from us, as a football coach, manager and trainer Mick was exceptional, way before his time.
Mick was to be a special guest at our clubs Centenary celebrations back in July 2023 while he was unable to attend I am delighted to have payed a very special tribute to him on the day in his absence for the many many years of coaching, developing and managing all us young Milltown
players resulting in many years of success for Milltown Gaa club.
Thanks for everything Mick, it was my privilege to have known you, may you rest in peace...….Marty.

Mickey holds a very special place in our hearts, he was the most gentle, patient, lovely man and always spoke so lovingly and proudly of you all. He taught me to paint aged 7 and the dolls house he crafted for me over 50 years ago is still going strong. It was played with by my younger cousins, and then went to my friends daughter before coming back to us to be loved by our daughter. Apart from being an exceptional craftsman, he was witty, kind and wise. He taught us so much about country ways, patience and decency. A true role model who will be much missed by so many. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

With the exception of my parents ,brothers and sister Micky Brock is the first person I remember from when I was a child . I followed him everywhere as he worked . And he always made time for me .
