I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of Michael. He was a great friend and neighbour to my family, from my grandfather, to my father and then to myself.
There are very few men that loved the countryside and nature like Michael. His knowledge of shooting and fishing knew no bounds and he would always help and advise newcomers to those sports. Those bureaucrats and politicians that seek to ban all fieldsports should know that men like Michael are actual guardians of wildlife. He put back many, many times more wildlife into the countryside than he ever took from it.
It was a pleasure to know you Michael and may the land you loved so dearly lay lightly on you.
