Having known him for a very long time i was delighted to meet Mick and Binky at the coffee shop in Loughboy. He was always in good form and up for a bit of slagging. One of natures great gentlemen. My condolences to all the Byrne family on the passing of Michael. The term gentleman immediately springs to mind for Michael, for that is what he was. A lovely man who always enjoyed a chat (about anything really!). I first met him in Loreto and regularly then after he left. We often a very enjoyable pint in the Home Rule Club or Phelan's in Parliament Street. May he Rest in Peace.

A gentleman , always a smile when we met, always a quiet word and time for a chat.Condolances to all the family.

It was with regret that I learned of the death of Michael and I convey my deepest sympathy to Josephine, Paul and the extended Byrne family. It was my privilege to work alongside Michael in the Loreto school to which he was committed. His support, friendship and fun - as well as his hard work - were greatly appreciated. On my return visits to Kilkenny I made a point of visiting Michael and always came away feeling a better person. On a recent visit he took me to his local coffee shop and introduced me to some of his many friends/acquaintances which he met while there. We couldn't return to his house without a visit to the Blessed Sacrament in Loughboy Church. I sensed I was in the presence of a spiritual man with deep faith. May he now enjoy peace and fullness of life. Thank you, Michael!

Michael was a true gentleman and he brightened up our week in kbowl every thursday. He will be greatly missed, love from all the staff in Kbowl
