Michael Cavanagh

I am very saddened to learn of Michael's passing. He was a gentleman and great craic to work with, when I covered nursing shifts on Bracken ward, when employed at Raheny Community Nursing Unit. What can I say, other than I am so sorry. My sincerest condolences to all of the Cavanagh Family.

The difference Michael made to the residents and staff in RCNU is simply beyond measure. He was one of life's rare gifts. A warm, sincere, kind and intuitive friend, who had a calming effect on all around him. What a privilege it was to work with him for 8 years, I will always cherish the experience, and I will go on quoting his wise words to others. I hope he is making music somewhere now.. We're so sad to hear this news (Paddy and I). Mick was always wonderful to meet, even if it was in the early hours in the morning outside the tennis club after he gigged with Paddy! A contented man, wise, gentle and with a great sense of humour. Always loved meeting him on these occasions. We will miss him. 46 years ago, I started playing with Mick in a band, Room Service and for many years afterwards gigging, recording and writing with him, he was a friend, a truly great singer and guitarist, whether it be acoustic or electric, Micks real strength was his songwriting abilities, he would bring it all to the table in one package, the melody, the chords, the lyrics, ready to go.  My condolences to Carmel, Philip and Claire, this is a very sad day.....
