Such a lovely man, who always saw the humour and light in everything. You will miss him greatly as, indeed, shall we all.

We only learned the sad news by accident last Friday.

Waking up in Canberra to this sad news. Great memories of our time together in Beijing. You and Mike were such good neighbours to us. Remember coming over to us daily with food when the young wan was born? That baby is 19 now. Playing table tennis with Mike and Sam in the basement of that 'pokey' house you lived in. You and Mike reciting poetry or passages from Joyce for Bloom's Day followed by me caterwauling some old Victorian parlour song! Used to meet Mike every morning as we put the bairns(Celia and Sam) on their respective school busses!

Very vivid and happy memories Kay. My sincere condolences to you and Sam. Sara (Milne).

Dear Kay - we shared an office in the Perm Rep in Brussels when you were there with Mike. We had some good times and I have such fond memories of Mike's great character, kindness and humour. So very sorry to hear of Mike's death - may he rest in peace.

In memory of Michael. As a student in Galway, it was clear a sense of wonder attracted him to philosophy, and he brought this back into life, into his teaching, friendships, and his family. Mike was truly unique. A free spirit, he found something interesting, quirky and entertaining wherever life took him. He was clever, irreverent, funny and great company. His decline over the past five years has been just so sad. He will be greatly missed. We extend deepest sympathies to Kay, Sam and the extended family.
