Our condolences to the Connell family on the passing of Michael. Michael was fine accordian player and a founding member of the O'Growney Céilí Band. He was a leader in the preservation of traditional music in Co Meath. He came to many sessions in Jack Quinn’s over the years.

Nigel, Bobby, Michelle, Maree & Fintan and all the Connell family, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. Your dad was truly a legend of a man, we always enjoyed meeting him and having the chats.
My earliest memories of Michael go back to 1996 when we first came to Athboy. I remember noticing this lovely couple sitting on the right-hand side of the church. In my mind, I imagined they might have returned home from the UK, and I was captivated by their quiet grace. Michael’s gentlemanly ways were so striking—stepping out of the pew to let Mags in and always looking after her with such care and devotion.
As the years passed and I got to know them, I realised that this was simply Michael, a man devoted to Mags.
May his gentle soul now rest in peace, and may he and Mags be joyfully reunited in Heaven.
