Michael Coughlan

Mr Coughlan was my chemistry teacher in Roscrea fifty years ago in the early seventies . He was a gifted teacher who commanded the respect of his students . May he rest in peace .

Michael was the best teacher I have had at all levels. I was very lucky to have been Michael’s pupil for five years. I did not pursue a career in science but I still refer to Michael’s thought process when I have a work problem to solve. Michael spoke a few words to me in private during my sixth year which gave me great encouragement. I still chuckle at Michael’s frustration or exasperation when some of the class could not spell ‘Chemistry ‘ !
