I used to meet Michael regularly as a youngster when I used to call into his shoe shop where my father, John O Callaghan and Sean Crowley (both former rate collectors) had their office in the back of his shop. Michael & his shoe shop were legends in South main street, he served the people of West Cork & places beyond for many decades. Michael was a people person who was ideally suited to his job, everyone got the same warm welcome time & time again whether they purchased or not. Michael was well known in the GAA & most all on the bowling roads. May Michael now enjoy walking the corridors of Heaven with the best footwear he deserves after a life well lived.
