My 1st.day in Sept. 1960 as a student in St. Eunans was also Michaels as a teacher there. Physically he was not a big man but as a teacher in the class room or on the football field he was a " giant" , and will be fondly remembered by all his students down the years. Thank you so much for all that you gave.

My very sincerest sympathy and condolences to Monica, family and relatives - on the sad passing of your beloved Michael. I consider myself very fortunate to have known him as a former pupil and coach of the St Eunan's College Gaelic Football team. As I reminisce on his influence both in the academic and sporting fields, I will forever cherish his beautifully handwritten team sheets posted on the notice board prior to impending matches. While my command of the Greek language may be limited, I can write the Greek Alphabet from Alpha to Omega - thanks to his influence and inspiration. May his gentle soul rest peacefully with the Angels in Heaven.

Sincere Sympathy to all the Cullen family on the death of Michael.I was a pupil of his in the early seventies in St Eunans college and he was a dedicated teacher and infected us with a great love of Gaelic football and he gave of his time freely to coach teams and in later years to Athletics. He was a gentleman and always had a kind word for everyone. The referee above has blown his final whistle. Rest in Peace Michael.

Michael encouraged me in english in St. Eunans, and also in getting us to running events across Donegal and Ulster to compete for the school. Quite a lot of free days, for which we were grateful!

Sad to hear of Michaels passing, had the pleasure of being a pupil of his in Saint Eunans. He was incredibly funny and he knew it too. He was a gentleman putting up with us. My condolences to Greg and all the family.

I was fortunate to be in Michael’s first class in St. Eunan’s College and to have had many enjoyable encounters with him after I joined the teaching profession myself. He lived by the motto ‘mens sana in corpore sano’ which served him well and he brought to teaching a respect for every student which would later be main~streamed as pupil-centred education. I'm really saddened to hear of Michael 's death. As a boarder in St.Eunans 62..67 he was a beacon of light to us & treated us with dignity and respect.Even as a student l was very close to him.Athletics & football being our common interests.Our Lord will give him a big welcome. My sympathies to all of Michael's immediate and extended family. I was in St. Eunan's College 1962 - '67 and Michael, then a relatively young teacher was a central part of our lives. Apart from his academic role, he gave hugely to the sporting life of students through his immense contribution to Gaelic Football over many years. He was always encouraging and a most decent man.
