I first met Michael when we were setting up the James Joyce Centre and have enjoyed his friendship and kindness ever since. We will miss him. All our sympathy to his family and friends from Roslyn and myself.

Michael was a very friendly, supportive colleague on the James Joyce Centre board. He was dedicated to the Centre's advancement through good days and bad. On a personal level he could not have been kinder and more empathetic to me. He will be much missed.

I was greatly shocked and saddened when Michael, my onetime colleague, lifelong friend, and inspirational mentor told me his diagnosis so soon after losing his beloved Peggy.

As we pass through life a few people we meet stand tall in our memories. Mick Darcy, for me, was certainly one of these. Though I was a very small part of his life, he was a large part of mine. He was a remarkable man and will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.

I met Mick for the first time at his cousin Colette's husband's funeral (Cyril Browne). Mick drove us to the hotel after the service and we had the pleasure of dining with Mick. He struck me as such a sincere, interesting and kind man. He was full of life and very enjoyable company. When his cousin, Rosalind told me that he died, I was so sorry to hear it. Age is so irrelevant. I have no doubt that Mick will be a huge loss to his family and friends.

Deepest sympathy to the Darcy family. I have had the privilege of playing many enjoyable rounds of golf with Michael. His wise and witty words will be sorely missed, particularly by those of us in the Woodbrook Plummers Golfing Society where he was Captain so recently. May he rest in peace!

My sincere condolences to all the Darcy family. Michael was a beautiful person and so kind to me personally. He gave so much time, passion and support to the James Joyce Centre, right up to the last few months. I am still smiling thinking of the fun that we had at last year’s Bloomsday breakfast! We will miss him dearly.

To the Darcy family- please accept our condolences on the passing of Mick so soon after Peggy. We understand how proud he was of you all.
I have known Mick and enjoyed his cameraderie on and off the golf course for over 30 years. It was very difficult to win the money from him as he had a superb short game and was so competitive even up to a few months age when I last played with him. He was always a fun-loving and informed conversationalist and it did'nt hurt to be of the same viewpoint, particularly on matters political !
Mick was once Chairman of the Irish Japanese Business Association and at another time Chairman of the Irish Chinese Business Association, a unique double act which is testament to his capabilities and to the esteem in which he was widely held. He was an inspiration, in many respects, to those who were blessed to know him.
He is now reunited with his beloved Peggy. Rest in Peace Mick.

Heartfelt condolences to John and all the Darcy Family as Mick takes the bus back to Maganey! Mick was a great friend to me for over 30yrs and also offered me great council on many occasions sprinkled with hearty laughs! We were both the sons of a Garda Sgt stationed 30yrs apart in Dunshaughlin and Mick slept in my bedroom 30yrs before I got there and we often joked about the state he left my bedroom in🤣We played lots of golf together in WBGC and he was a Champion Bustler but more importantly always great Company
He’s eyeing a few lads in Heaven now that he could relieve of a €5
