I had many dealings with Michael for a number of years when he was a Councillor for the South East Area.
He was an absolute gentleman, was so appreciative always and had a great smile to greet you at every meeting!

My deepest condolences to Michael's family on his recent death.Michael was one of our first customers when we opened our bookshop twelve years ago and he became a good friend.He was an eclectic reader and interested in many subjects.We chatted about everything under the sun.He especially loved choosing books for his beloved grandchildren Tom,Alex and Theo.He was an amazing man and will be sadly missed.Alice Walsh

I first met him when he was on the Senate trail all those years ago, and, then many times thereafter until we more recently crossed paths at the Former Members of the Oireachtas events. He was an absolute gentleman, highly respected by all with home he came in contact, whether in business or in politics. He will be sadly missed but very fondly remembered. In what is a notoriously cut-throat profession, Michael never lowered his standards of decency, and enjoyed respect across party lines for that.

I first worked with Michael when he was Lord Mayor of Dublin and subsequently on many different projects.Michael was an exceptional public representative who never sought the lime light for the Trojan work he did, He was always generous with his time and advice and I always valued his council. Dublin was a better place through Michael’s efforts. He will be greatly missed. May Michael réât in peace.
