Our condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the sad death of Michael.

Michael was a work colleague of mine back in the 1980s at Measurex. Michael reconditioned electronic parts. I remember a popular and quite lad with a sense of humour and that glint in his eye as we chatted about whatever the "big news or topic" was for us of the day. Of course time erodes and melts away the importance of all those "big news" things. But the memory remains of Michael who was a good friend and colleague to all there.

Having recently got to know Michael, we enjoyed his easy company, his love of nature, and his many stories - He was one of Life’s Gentle Men in the true sense of the word, and we are very sad that our time together was so short. It was with deep sadness that I heard the news of poor Micks passing.

We worked together at Enterprise and shared many a car journey throughout Waterford & Waterford over the years we worked together. Some great memories and a person I held in high regard. One of a kind!

Michael will be missed by us all. He was more like family than anything else, always kind and always a true gentleman. Some of my best memories are from when Michael visited us in Italy, especially the trip to Naples with him and Ilyich. We ended up in an Irish pub after the match and had such a great time. I’ll never forget the laughs we shared… or the snoring when we had to share a room. He was one of a kind, and I’ll always remember him with a smile.
