Condolences to the entire Bergin family on the passing of Frankie. He was a great character and the very best of Company. He had such a genuine heartfelt interest in people putting them on a pedestal. A roguish gentleman. You were better for spending time with him. Sincere sympathy to the Bergin Family. A pure Gentleman. May Frank rest in peace.
Condolences to the Bergin family on the sad passing of Frank. We met Frank, for the first time some years ago, in Butlers Café, where he held court on most days. He was exuberant with a perpetual inclination to share a joke, no matter how long the punchline was in coming! Not a man who's conversation wandered much into politics or current affairs, Frank's frivolous and light hearted banter was legendary in Butlers of Wicklow St. Separately, regulars at Butlers were treated to tales of his trips to his pubs in Prague or of his, stock purchasing, expeditions to Poland for his children's clothes shops. When not perched at his favoured tall table at the back of Butlers Café while, invariably, in the company of one or two fellow patrons, it seemed Frank was, indeed, a very busy man. We will miss him. RIP Frank.

Dear Emmet, Beatrix, Benny and little Zach; my sincerest condolences on your loss. I cannot imagine what you’re experiencing.
To the friends who were immediately brought under Frank’s wings, he will be missed. To me he was like a sartorial bumblebee - full of energy, cross-pollinating laughter across the social garden of Dublin. Be that garden his kerbside social salon at Butler’s Café, the garden/dining room here, or later at his hospital bedside. He could charm the birds whilst weaving the weeds and flowers into a storied perennial garland spanning decades.
There were small fissures of complex melancholic reflection upon his early years that blistered up; before he’d dart off into a different, albeit related story. He would suddenly be still and listen, interested in what was being discussed. Frank was relatable, and what made him relatable was his genuine agnostic humanity and humility. You’d catch a glimpse of his raw complex self, and before you knew it, he’d be suddenly up and gone to the next flower garden or Prague with a glint of his pocketwatch as he bumble-buzzed over the garden wall in his immaculately polished shoes.
More recently, we belly-laughed with him & Siobhan at his bedside in St James’s Hospital; fragments of Frank’s socail life meeting and connecting for the first time. We all laughed so much that Frank had to tell us to be quiet!
To all who had the privilege of knowing him; I am sorry for your loss.
