So sorry Theresa to hear of your brothers passing - Condolences to all his family - May Michael RIP
I am very sad to hear of Dr. Michael Grimley’s death. He gave me every opportunity to learn and grow as a postgraduate demonstrator in the 3rd and 4th Year labs, and I still have a copy of the revision of the 1st Year microlabs he allowed me to write. We didn’t see each other often after I graduated but it was always a pleasure when it happened. Sincere condolences to all family and friends. Paul van Kampen (UCD Physics 1993-1997).
Sincere sympathy to Sarah and family on the recent passing of Michael. May his soul rest in peace.
To Carmel, Sarah and Hugh,
My deepest condolences on your loss. Thinking of you all at this time, and happy memories of Mickey in Marley Grange.
May he rest in peace.
Stephen
We were very sorry to hear of Michael’s death. Please accept our sympathies with fond memories of No. 2 Lakeland Close.
My sincere condolences to all the family and friends of Dr Grimley. I was a student of his in the physics labs in UCD graduating in 2001. He was a great teacher who shared his knowledge with us and a man of good humour too. May he Rest In Peace.
My sincere sympathy to the Grimley family on the passing of Dr. Grimley. His character and expertise created an enjoyable learning environment in the Physics Lab. I have fond memories of Dr. Grimley during my time in UCD. R.I.P.
Dear Carmel, Hugh and Sarah

I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of Michael. He was a great friend to our family, especially to Dad, whom I think was very close to him. I have happy memories of family camping holidays with you all when we were kids. I also remember Michael as a great teacher and a kind mentor to our physics class of 1988.

On behalf of the Long family (Mary, Stephanie, Andrew, Richard and Joanna), I am sending you all our sympathies and love. Stephanie
My sincere sympathy to the Grimley family on the passing of Dr. Grimley. A huge figure during my time in UCD both as an undergraduate and postgraduate student, characterised by both his focus on academic rigour and his great sense of humour. May he rest in peace.
I am shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Grimley, as he was known to all of us in Physics. I will always remember the 3rd and 4th year labs that he supervised. At the start, we were all slightly scared of Dr. Grimley because he initially seemed quite stern and we had heard of the very high standards upheld at these labs. As time went on though, we got to know him and realised that, in addition to being an excellent lab supervisor, he was such a kind-hearted, genuine and humorous man and, indeed, we got to share many a laugh with him. I will never forget him and I hope never to forget the skills that he helped us to develop in those labs. I am sending my sincere condolences to all of Dr. Grimley's family and friends.
- Deirdre (Physics 1993-1997).
I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Grlmley. Dr. Grimley was for sure one of the most memorable characters in Physics at UCD. I can remember his toughness and his unique dry sense of humour and he always would demand the best of us. We were fortunate to have his son, Hugh in our same graduating class of 1989 which I think softened Dr. Grimley. It allowed our small class of 12 to get quite close to him and see him as the gentle and kind mentor that he was. May he rest in peace. My condolences to Hugh and his family

---- Conrad B (UCD Class of 1989, Physics), San Francisco, California

We were so sorry to hear of Mickey’s passing. We are keeping you in our thoughts at this sad time.

May he rest in peace.
I was an undergraduate of Dr. Grimley's (UCD Physics class of 1988) and he was an exquisite lecturer and physicist - he demanded the absolute best from us (as with his colleagues in UCD Physics) but guided us with extraordinary insight and always with our very best interests at heart. It was an honour and a privilege to have been taught by him. I am deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Grimley's passing, may he rest in peace, and my sincere condolences to all of his Family and Friends.

Kevin Nolan, UCD Physics Class of '88.
Dear Hugh, Sarah & Carmel (Mrs Grimley), I will always remember Michael (Mr Grimley) PhD as an intellectual beacon in our local community. But most of all I remember his enjoyment of family summer holidays, and our expectation of waiting for the VW Camper van to arrive back in the driveway, followed by Hugh's stories of adventures on foreign shores.
