Michael (Hallie) Mc Evoy

I was away and hadn’t heard the sad news when Haulie died so I’m very late with this but I want to add my condolences here to Aisling and all his family and friends.
Haulie was a very, very special man. He and I always got on very well since we were youngsters; of course he seemed so much older and wiser - when you’re 10 someone who’s 12 is practically an adult! Our paths crossed less frequently over the years but it was always great to catch up with him and have the crack. He had a laugh, a smile and a brilliant sense of humour that will always stay with me. He had a unique intellect that pierced through the mundane. Rest in peace Haulie, maybe with a pint of stout and a fag.

I was so sorry to hear that Hallie has passed away. We were great friends when we were about 9-12 years old. Hallie introduced me to lots of important things like cigarettes, girls and David Bowie albums.
He was so kind, such fun and he was always so loyal to his friends.
Our family moved to Dublin in 1980 and I only met Hallie once again since I left, about 20 years ago, and it was as if nothing had changed. I knew all his family's names and he asked me about mine, and we were both just old pals and glad to catch up with each other again. I think you never lose your good childhood friends.
I remember his Dad's three-in-one stereo, Jenny the Golden Retriever, whom he loved so much, and his Phantom Jet model plane. We played for hours together and he was a wonderful guy, a really kind soul.
