Very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. He was a gentleman and a pleasure to work alongside in the PTAA. May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to Michael's family, relatives and many friends. I got to know Michael through the many Pioneer Committee that he served on. He was part of the assessment team for the Gradam Na Réadóiríí Awards, visiting many Pioneer Centres in Limerick and Cork. for many years. With his dedication and experience of the PTAA he was always willing to share his knowledge in his own gentle and kind way. He will be sadly missed in the PTAA.

Michael was a much valued and dedicated member of the PTAA, who served with distinction, holding office at all levels; Pallasgreen Pioneer Centre, Matt Talbot Pioneer Region, Cashel and Emly Diocesan PTAA, Munster and National Councils. He recently received the Fr.Cullen Memorial medal for 60 years of loyal service. His attendance at any meeting was characterised by his smiling good humour, wit, grace, generosity, sincerity and unfailing courtesy. Michael never criticised others' mistakes, never sought to promote himself but to encourage others and always sought to bring a sense of calmness and harmony to any meeting. He travelled the highways and byways of Ireland promoting the PTAA among young people, through talent shows, quizzes, Réadóirí and Pioneer Sports' competitions. He was a talented quiz master, participant and a good-humoured team-mate. Michael made friends among the Pioneers in every corner of Ireland. I am glad to have had the privilege of working with him in the Pioneer Association for many years. Go n-eirí an bóthar leat, Michael. Ar dheis Dé go raibh tú.
