I was very saddened to hear of Michael passing, he was a true gent always, as a school friend teenager and later when we met on public transport to and from london airports. I last met him in a hotel (in Galway )April 23 with a couple of other LC 82 chaps and he was as nice as ever, engaging thoughtful and respectful. He was a lovely and very helpful man, an inspiration how he bore his illness and carried on. May you treasure him always, carve his name with pride. Go mbeidh suaimneas na flaitheas aige go deo. RIP Michael.

Dear Frank, sending my deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your brother. I can only imagine how difficult this time is for you and I am keeping you in my thoughts.

I knew Mike through our mutual membership of Tribesmen rowing club. It turned out that he knew my wife Emer from their school days - small world. I remember one evening Emer and I met Mike in Leisureland. The expression on his face was priceless when he realised that two he knew separately were married.
He was always friendly and up for a chat. The last time I remember him rowing was on a family day at the club when he went in a boat with his son. A lovely memory to have.
I admired how Mike was determined to live with and through his illness. It was a mark of the man and truly inspirational.
I know he will be missed terribly especially by Sandra who was so good to and protective of him. Please God you have many happy memories to sustain you in these difficult days and times ahead.

I'm so sorry to hear that your dad, Mike, passed away. You may know, Mike and I met in a shared house in Crawley, some 30 years ago. We constantly played pranks on each other and our other house mates. Back then Mike had many schemes to make money, including buying used computers in bulk and trying to sell them. I could not be present when he was selling them, his sales pitch made me laugh so hard. I have so many great memories from that time.

I'm pleased I got to speak with Mike earlier this year, I was impressed with his desire to continue walking and flying despite his diagnosis.

He will be missed my many.

Mike was a real gentleman. Some of us in the club enjoyed great chats with him while on the hills in Connemara & Clare and walking the country lanes. He was a very active member on our committee until very recently and we are very grateful for his contribution to the club. Rest in peace Mike.
