Deepest sympathy to Ann and family at this sad time. In 2018 Rita and myself visited New Zealand for a holiday Michael collected us from the airport and drove us to our hotel. The following day Michael rang and invited us to an Irish night where we met his lovely wife Ann and friends. We had the perfect start to our holiday. We will always remember Michael’s kindness and good humor may his gentle soul rest in peace

I met Michael on a rugby trip to New Zealand in 2001 when we played De La Salle team in a very wet Eden Park. R I P Michael condolence his wife and family Michael was a real gentleman
I am very sorry to hear of Michael’s death
We were school mates all those years ago in Cahir and I have many happy memories of our times together in St Joseph’s College.
Michael was a very proud Irishman who had a very genuine regard and affection for the country and indeed never forgot or lost that connection over the years He maintained a great interest in sport, how Ireland were doing and particularly how Tipperary were doing in the hurling. I know he used to look forward keenly to the old Betamax videos I used to send him of the hurling games during the summer before modern communication
brought the games to him more quickly and efficiently
He certainly was a great Ambassador for Ireland in New Zealand and contributed to life there in a very positive and commendable manner
He maintained special links with his home town Cahir and Banaba where his parents came from and his visits over the years will be sadly missed by many people. The greatest loss is of course to his family and I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to his sister Mary in Ireland and to his wife Ann and family in New Zealand
Ned O’Connor. Cahir
