So sad to hear of the sudden passing of Michael. He was a lovely gentleman and I hold fond memories of our times in Balbriggan Dramatic Society.

It is with great sadness that i have learned of the untimely and sudden passing of Michael. To me Michael was the quintessential gentleman. He was a very humble and friendly man. There were no air's or graces about him and he did not suffer fools gladly. Matter of fact, Michael did not suffer fools atall. He was a man of great intellectual knowledge though i think he did not want that to be something to show or brag about. You could not surpass his knowledge of sport especially results and who scored what in games far back in the day. He loved crosswords and could spend a vast amount of time studying same unit he got all the answers, and yes, they would surely be right. He knew results of GAA games down in West Cork where i am from and i wouldn't even know them myself. To conclude i wish to offer my sincere and deepest sympathy and condolences to you, Michael's family and may the Lord Rest And Bless His Kindly Soul. 🕯🙏🕯

I was saddened to hear of Michael’s passing. We first met when we both worked in CIE Galway in the mid-sixties, he was then involved in amateur dramatics. We again worked together in CIE Oriel Street from the seventies onward and shared the same social and political interests. Mick had a wry wit and a great sense of humour. I extend my sincere condolences to his family, and many friends. May he rest in peace.

Micheal was a great friend to me and others. He allowed me to use his back garden to grow fruit, veg, and Sweetpea flowers for the last 17 years. During that time I won several "All Ireland Sweetpea Championships" and "Best in Show" awards. Without Micheal's generosity I could not have achieved any of these. We celebrated the wins with a pint or two. This Christmas will be sad without Micheal at our dinner table. Rest in peace Kilkenny's finest.
