I have many happy memories of Michael, when I was studying at King's Inns, back in the eighties. We often " dropped in" after our lectures, and did we have fun! Mick was a gentle, mild mannered man with both a great sense of humour and genuine interest in people. I am very sorry to learn of his passing and know that many of my colleagues will feel the same. My sincere condolences to his family.

Michael was the quintessential ‘quiet man’ who was a constant in what made Hughes welcoming, relaxed and a joy to return to.

Martin. Very sorry to hear your dad has passed away. I've just got the news from Damian this afternoon. Unfortunately it's too late to attend the funeral. May he rest in peace. Der
Michael agreed for dancing to take place in his pub in 1985, the first place in Dublin to do so. For 35 years he has kept the house a safe and welcoming place for real music, song and dance. And he did so always with great courtesy and friendliness. I owe him loads, and I'll miss him greatly.
Condolences to his family and his friends.

Our deepest sympathy to Marie, Martin & Dave on the sad passing of Mick. He will be remembered with fondness by the wider musical family for keeping traditional music alive in Hughes Pub, over many years when it wasn't fashionable or profitable. Rest in peace Mick.
A gentleman!
