We are saddened to hear of the passing of Michael J Merrit RIP. He was a first cousin of our mom Nellie Murphy "nee Merritt" of Lisgriffin who sadly passed away in 2017. Her dad was William Merritt of Templemary Buttevant Co Cork. Reading Michaels obituary its obvious that he was a great man and is very sadly missed by all his family.We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. He was so good to me.
He had outstanding intelligence and ability and achieved so much.
I always learnt from my time with him.
He was also great company and I still remember happy nights in his basement bar.

I got to know Mary in later years when she kindly gave permission to Churchtown Heritage Society to erect a commeration for unbaptised children on her land in Moumt Brigid . So generous and helpful in her gesture

So very sorry to hear of mikes passing. He was a lovely man and called to our home whenever he called back around buttevant. May he's gentle soul rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time.
