Our deepest sympathies to Mike's family and friends on his death. We only heard about it today September 11th. I have fond memories of Mike when he used to visit Galway with my uncle Eddie Kelly and his wife Hannah. Mike always came to visit our house in Mervue with gifts and sweets for my sister and I who were about 12 years younger. May he RIP

Growing up Mike and I were both near neighbours and best mates. We shared many interests over a wide range of subjects and Mike had a particular interest in the environment, local history and folklore.
Later in life due to time, distance, responsibilities and commitments we were not in contact as much as we should have been but I always held him in high regard and had great respect for him.
I offer my condolences to Terence and Patricia both of whom I spent some time with when I was a guest at Falkland Road, London. I also offer my condolences to Joan and his many other friends and colleagues who I am sure will all mourn his passing.
I very much regret not being able to attend Mike's farewell.

Mike O’ Connor was not a blood relation of mine but was for as long as I can remember always a cousin of mine. Mike was reared by Eddie Kelly and Hanna Crowley, Eddie was a brother of my mother Kathleen Kelly-Sunny Hill. I’ve seen and read in some of the many beautiful condolences Mike being described as a rogue, I can concur and add my own little story. Mike arrived at our family home in Newcastle, Galway City totally unexpected after driving on a Honda 50 all the way from Killarney. He was in his teenage years at that time. To this day I don’t know did he own the bike or had he “borrowed “ it from Eddie. He was welcomed and didn’t overstay his visit but we got to visit the Aran Islands while he was here. He eventually returned to his true home in Castle Heights. I want to sincerely thank Joan his partner for the love she gave him, he was a lovable gentleman and to Sheila and Terence sincere condolences on the loss of your brother. I was personally proud to call him my cousin. RIP Mike 🌹.
