So sad to hear of Michael's death. Our deepest sympathies to Irina and the whole family. He was a gentleman and a stalwart in the village. Everyone has happy memories, especially buying their Christmas Trees from him and he is greatly missed by his friends and fellow businesses in Malahide.

We knew Mick for many years as customers in his excellent flower and plant business in Malahide. Always a true gentleman and very kind and generous person to know.
We have lots of pots and plants in our garden to keep his memory alive.

Mick was a permanent fixture in Malahide for ad long as I can remember.

I used to see Mick organising his stock at the crack of dawn in all weather conditions.

I remember someone telling me that he was spending the dawn of the new millennium in Brazil.

I was very sad to hear about Mick's departure. I shared several endeavours with him, from the early 70s, when I worked with him in Quinnsworth, to the late 70's playing football together and in more modern times choosing the best plants for my garden. We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Mick and send our condolences to the Durkin family. As mentioned on an earlier post by Liam Kelly , the days in the mid 70’s playing football for the TJ O’connor’s team are my great memories too. Michael played his position at right back as he played life! With class, energy, enthusiasm and always with that great smile. And the holiday trips Michael, Irina with the twins made out to Santa Monica California and those lovely visits with me and my wife Suze. One of the highlights of our yearly trips home to Ireland was always to Malahide and Michael’s flower shop, as spectacular a floral display you will not find anywhere. Rest In Peace, my friend .

Winter, spring, summer and autumn we’d find ourselves in the yard with him. And all points in between too, god rest him. Christmas will not be the same again.
