He was an absolute gentleman and always very welcoming of us to Manor Kilbride. I used to have great chats with him about music, football and film. On one hand I was always so jealous of him when he retired and used to head into the Irish Film Institute in his spare time; on the other I immediately knew that he had shown me the way for my own retirement plans down the road!

Thinking of you all during this difficult time, and sincere apologies for not being able to make it to the funeral.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Michael, a giant of a man with the biggest of hearts. I know he's enjoying an Elvis concert in Heaven now. Thinking of Nuala, Ruairi and all he left behind.

Sincere condolences to Nuala, to Dee, Eoin, Ruairi, and Fionnuala, to all Michael's grandchildren and extended family and friends. Michael was always such a gentleman, and was very kind, warm and welcoming to a lost Kerry boy who first visited Golden Hill back in late 1996. His tour of the area is something I often remember whenever I'm back in Wicklow, his love for the place he lived was so clear to see. May he rest in peace.

I think it’s an understatement to describe Michael as a gentleman. He was that, & so much more. He always gave me a warm welcome into the home at Manor Kilbride, & those wonderful pre-Christmas parties were particularly memorable when he was in charge of the soundtrack.
