Michael you came from Rushestown,
Newbridge, Galway was in your heart so dear,
You always longed to return,
But the end was far too near,
You battled through your cancer,
Always calling it ’the disease’,
Even though you were in pain,
You carried on with ease,
Michael you had your sayings,
And a place for everything,
Some were “that reminds me”
And “time is everything”,
Waynestown was where you settled,
Beaumont, Connolly,
and St. Lukes your second home,
The hospice was so wonderful,
Where you never felt alone,
And there you slipped away so peacefully,
Surrounded by people you loved
and your own,
Now you are in heaven Michael
With your mum and dad so dear,
And we know you will mind us
and always be near,

It is a sad time on the lane. Michael you were our closest neighbour forever. We were blessed that we shared all those years with you and your parents before you. We will miss you. Michael will be sadly missed by us all in Creggs. We really enjoyed his visits to Creggs and the warm sincere welcome we always received in Waynestown.
Michael had an encyclopedia like memory and his love for history and family were evident in every conversation.
