I had the pleasure of knowing ‘Boxcar’ for a number of decades and it was always lovely to be in his company.To say he was ‘individualistic’ is an understatement. I was glad to see him recently at Marlay Nursing Home.

I was too young to appreciate Michael's stories on his visits to us cousins in Longford.
As an adult I didn't really get to meet him alas from being overseas.

Sympathy to the Kennedy family on the sad passing of the esteemed retired Michael of the CSSO/DPPO. I had the honour of liazing with him many times in trials in the CCCDublin where he was in charge of the files in my cases. He was brilliant in his role with a very high rate of convictions.

Condolences to the Kennedy family on Michael's passing. I remember him walking into the office each day in all weathers. He was well known in the Four Courts and had a treasure trove of memories (those massive ledgers) from trials going back to the 1970s. I hope his family can take comfort in the fact he was very well liked by his colleagues.
