So sad to hear of Michaels' passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him many many years ago, when my sister worked in Michaels' shop in the market yard, Sligo. I was only about 12 years old but I remember clearly what a kind, and gentle personality he had. I had admired and never forgot him since. A true gentleman. I remember back to the pottery in the Market Yard Sligo and their beautiful home in Ballygawley..For me as a teenager , the Market yard , seemed to be the centre of the practicing arts community in Sligo. Over years, welcomed to his homes from Ballygawley to Marys in Gort. Thanks to Michael I have encountered and become friends with many other wonderful people who he brought to Sligo , supporting them in their lives and careers.. Michaels passing has been the catalyst for a reconnection with old friends. Whether he is with us or not his actions continue to have a really positive influence on my life and that of many others. We were very sorry to hear of Michael's passing. He and our late father (Liam) had a great working relationship in Sligo back in the 80's and indeed, Michael and I collaborated on a piece to commemorate him after his passing, which hangs in the Hawks Well Theatre to this day.
