Marion, we are so sorry to hear of Michael's untimely death. Shocking and unexpected news. Our heartfelt condolences to you and the extended family. We always enjoyed Michael's convivial sense of humour, back to the days of set dancing in Regan's Derreenadooey. He certainly had a special quality to him, with an open, courteous nature, ready smile and unassuming manner. He pursued his environmental missions with such quiet determination. A truly impressive character who has left a substantial and positive legacy. He will be greatly missed around the north Roscommon community and further afield.

I've only just heard of Michael's death. I extend my sympathies to you Marion and his family. I worked with Michael on a number of occasions with the IEN. He was a gentleman who was very committed. May he rest in peace.

We valued and respected Michaels support back in the 1980's in our environmental campaigns in Ballyshannon and in our setting up of a local CND branch. His intellect and expertise were invaluable as was his generosity with both.Much fun was also had and happy memories created including Michael 's singing in a band and taking part in the Ballyshannon Folk Festival song competition!
We had lost contact in recent years and sorry we did not know he was ill
.His legacy of care for this beautiful world is assured.

Only just heard of Giblets passing. It is a great shock to us both. We had no idea of his sickness. We have not been in contact for many years. I knew Michael through our work with Coalition 2030, Dóchas, and the IEN. He was lovely, kind, fun, and generous with his knowledge and experience. We all learned so much from him. The fact that he was based in Roscommon was a bonus! We're all going to miss Michael and him bringing bananas to meetings (some meetings were so long that the bananas were very welcome)! Shocked and saddened to hear of Michael's death. He used to frame pictures for me. Occasionally I'd encounter him on Carrick on Shannon railway station returning from his environmental work in Dublin. He always had a smile on his face and always time for a chat. I discovered we'd both lived in a town called Coulsdon in England a long time ago. Last time I saw him was a year or two back at the Health Centre in Keadue and he was in fine fettle and wanted to know where I hung out so we could meet up... so this news comes as a real shock to me. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a fine man, a gentleman. Rest in peace, Michael.

I was so sorry to hear of Michael’s death. I have known and worked with Michael for many years through the Irish Environmental Network, Coalition2030 and various government committees. He was always such a lovely person, very kind, welcoming and patient and was so capable at getting his point across in a very considered way.
I was always so impressed at how adept he was at bringing people together often from different perspectives and places showing understanding and empathy. He has been such an influence in the environmental sphere in Ireland and will be very sadly missed. My deepest condolences to Marian and all his family and friends

I extend my deepest sympathies to all of Michael's family. I worked closely with Michael in the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI) for a number of years. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and gave generously of time to the ESAI (as he did to IEN and many other environmental organisations). He provided wise advice fellow ESAI Council members, always given lightly and with a smile. He will be sorely missed. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Michael was a giant of a man, a true leading voice in the environmental movement in Ireland, a spirited community organiser, a gifted and natural mediator, and an understanding and compassionate boss. I worked for the IEN/EP on an internship whilst Michael was head, and he treated all interns as valued and equal staff members, giving us great opportunities to attend ministerial meetings, events at the áras, etc. A very warm and generous man. My deepest and heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with Michael's family and friends at this very sad time. I only knew Michael for about six months but in that time worked closely with him in my capacity as Green Party LGBTQI+ Policy Group Convenor. Michael's support made a major difference in reestablishing the Group, and his guidance to the successful adopting of the policy. In this and so many other ways his work will live on. A wonderful gentleman. He is sadly missed!

I'm heartbroken that Michael has died. He gave so much to the Green Party Policy Council and to the IEN, and founded the PPN Environmental Pillar. Such a competent organizer; a giant of an achiever for Environmentalism. He did immense good, and had a lovely, warm, kind friendly manner. We are so grateful for his generous legacy, and will miss him terribly. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family. Rest in Peace, Michael.
