Deepest sympathy to Phyllis, June, Mary, Gerard and all the MacNulty family on the sad loss of Michael. He was always a very gentle person and I treasure memories of his looking after his siblings and me on the bumper cars at Dun Laoghaire carnival, Sandycove Galas in Blackrock Baths and many other occasions. May he rest in Peace
Sincere condolences from the O'Rourkes to Phyllis and all the MacNulty family on the very great loss of Michael. My Dad (Charles) and my late mum (Jo) often shared stories of entertaining evenings spent in Phyllis and Michael's excellent company at Moninne and Paul Burke-Kennedy's house. Sincere sympathy to Phyllis and the boys on the death of a husband, father and grandfather.
Both John and I have known Michael for many years, and in my case for many more, when are our fathers worked in the Hibernian Bank.
We have missed watching the MacNultys, McDonnells and McLaughlins leaving their respective holiday homes in Rosslare, in Black tie, to attend the Opera in Wexford, such glamour!

Sincere condolences to Phyllis and all the family on the loss of a man who contributed much to Ireland without seeking recognition. He was held in great respect by all our family and especially by my late father Dr Paddy Hillery. I will always hold warm memories of a trip MIchael arranged for Dad, me and Michael to Georgia, USA. I never hear Nat King Cole without thinking of that time and warm companionship (which made up for some indifferent golf!). May he rest in peace.
Deepest condolences Chris on the loss of your beloved father, sending our thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this sad time
Dearest Phyllis, Peter, David, and Christopher, I'm so very sad to hear today about your loss. Michael was such a larger-than-life part of our childhood memories - a true gentleman, full of fun, and a caring soul. We probably falsely believed he was a great influence on Dad over the Dunlop years - I suspect they were truly bad for each other but also shared fun and friendship that lasted so many years. I've so many great memories of family times with you all, highs and lows, and everything in between. Please hug Phyllis for me, and know that the Sheridans are thinking of you all at this sad time with warmth in our hearts, knowing that Michael and JNS are sharing a drink and a laugh up there. (PS I still tell the story of Michael's recitation of the Hail Mary in Irish at the conference the Allens are talking about in their messages.) Love to you all, Judy xx
My deepest condolences to Peter and the family.
sincerest sympathy Phyllis to you & family! I have many happy memories working with Michael in Dunlop many years ago but the friendsip still lasted. May he rest in peace. Margaret Murray.
May God Be You. Michael and Your Family have touched so many lives around the world.
I have the fondest memories of Michael for over 60 years. He was a great colleague and an inspiration with a great can-do attitude. Presently in Spain but my thoughts are there with you all
Condolences to all the MacNultys and their extended families on the death of Michael. RIP.
Michael was a man of unfailing charm and good humour, as well as being astute and decisive when need be. He is one of the few that I will always hold in the greatest of respect.
So sorry to hear about your father Chris. Thinking of you, Una and all your family at this sad time. May your Dad Rest in Peace
A very sad day today to farewell a wonderful man, a gentleman, an achiever. Michael and Phyllis were always so welcoming any time we met them. Peter, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear father. Our most sincere condolences to you, to your brothers, and to Phyllis, and all the extended family. We are thinking of you all.
Sending sincere condolences to Phyllis, Peter, David and Chris from all the Cartys

Deepest sympathy to Michael’s wife Phyllis, sons Peter, David and Christopher, brother Gerry and to the extended family. Had the pleasure of working with Michael in Bord Failte and in later years with his tourism consultancy business that he ran so successfully with his sons. Michael was a great motivator and was always supportive and encouraging. An absolute gentleman who achieved so much for tourism in Ireland and internationally. Michael will be greatly missed. May his gentle soul rest in peace

We had such a grand time! But we worried that Michael could be black-balled the next week because of the uncontrollable crowd that he had brought into the club.
Mark Twain once said, “Misery you can do on your own. But to experience true joy you must share it.”
May the halls ring again with memories of all of the happy times that Michael, his family, and his friends have shared.

Then the surprise mystery speaker at the convention was introduced: Bob Hope. He came out from behind the curtains and looked out at the audience. “It is such a pleasure to be on the dais with these fellows. To my left is Michael Mac Nulty. Have you ever seen such a tall and handsome leprechaun in your life? Michael tells me that it is wonderful to visit Ireland, and that it is really very safe. He says he works for the department of tourism during the day. I asked him what his night job was and he told me he was a tail gunner on a bakery truck.”
The fellow on my right is an astronaut. What an American hero. He makes Superman look like Truman Capote.
Then in 1998 Michael took the Allen families — both Joe’s and Dave’s — to the Royal Irish Yacht Club for dinner. Well, the first challenge there was that all of the men had have to have coats and ties! Fortunately the club did have loaners for folks who arrived incompletely dressed. After we were appropriately robed another guest, Andy Williams, the head of Pepsico for Europe, arrived with neither a coat nor a tie, and it was back to the dressing rooms.

When Joe arrived, still in his flight suit — which he would wear for his speech — he walked up to the speakers table. There stood a very tall gentleman who asked a waitress for a gin and tonic. “Are you a speaker?” she asked. “We don’t serve speakers before they have given their speech.”
Joe instantly spoke up and asked the waitress for two gin and tonic drinks. “Are you a speaker?” she asked.
“Absolutely not!” said Joe, and she brought him the drinks. As soon as the waitress was gone Joe handed them to the tall gentleman, who was Michael Nac Nulty. They have been the best of friends ever since.
Michael was the first speaker at Ceasar’s Palace Conference Center, and he urged everyone to visit Ireland.
Joe was the second speaker and he gave a quick overview of space flight.

To Phyllis, Peter, David & Chris,
The Allen family is saddened by Michael’s passing, but the joys inspired by Michael for all of us are permanent glorious memories. Michael was a once-in-a-lifetime friend. The Allen Boys — Joe and Dave — treasured their times with Michael.
In the early 1970’s Michael was a major player for the chamber of commerce of Ireland. In the line of duty he was sent to Las Vegas, Nevada, to convince the crowd at a giant tire dealers’ convention that Ireland was THE PLACE to visit, despite the rumors of “troubles”.
Originally Allen Shephard, the second American to fly into space, was scheduled to join Michael on the stage for this convention, but a last minute conflict forced him to cancel his appearance. So he called on Dr. Joe Allen. “Joe, I have a special assignment for you today. You have to fly to Las Vegas and give a speech about space flight on my behalf.” That was not “fly on a commercial airplane”, but “go out to the Ellington Air Force Base flight line and fly yourself in a T-38 to Las Vegas. You will be met at Nellis Air Force Base and taken to the convention. Write your speech on the way.”
