He was a wonderful bridge player and lovely person, one of the best highlights of my bridge playing career was playing for Ireland in the Senior Camrose 2013 in Wales on the same team as Michael, we also had the pleasure of Liz’s company on that occasion, may his soul rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear that Michael has died. Many memories. Horse racing. Dining in Chinese restaurant in Mullingar where the waiter insisted on joining us. Do you remember that Liz? He was an absolute gentleman at bridge table.

I was so very sad to hear of Michael’s death. A shock to everyone. I unfortunately only met him in the early 1970s. I have lived in the States since graduating in 1972.
What a talent he had for bridge ! Very impressive accomplishments.! Probably unique in the history of the country..!

You and his children will miss him a lot.
May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

Michael was certainly a gentleman at and away from the Bridge table, but he was more. He was generous in imparting his expertise and would do so in a manner that would allow one to feel good about their own game.

He played for Ireland at World and European events and yet, I always felt he was humble as a star Bridge player.

I will remember him fondly.
