My sincere condolences to Tracy, Coren, Aoife, Esther, Mick, Ber, Jean, Mary and Tony on your devastating loss. Maccer was such a talented, witty and interesting guy, even as a young fella growing up on Harbour View. He fought his illness with such dignify and courage. I am so pleased that I had the chance to meet up with him when he was home for Mary's wedding. Rest easy now Maccer.

I am most shocked & very saddened to be reading this most awful news. My sincere condolences to Mrs McDonnell & family and Michael's Partner & family, and his wide circle of friends, on the untimely passing of Michael. Taken far before his time, Bless him! He was a true gent of a man, with a remarkable talent on both, the GAA & Soccer pitches! I'm sure there will be many a great tale told of Michael's fantastic sporting abilities and achievements and his many humours 'scally antics', down through the yrs. May all yer loving and fun memories bring ye all, much solace, in these most difficult of times.

Absolutely gutted to learn of his passing. Fantastic childhood memories and it was a pleasure to partake and witness his pure genius on the playing field coupled with his gentlemanly conduct off it. The world will be a little dimmer without him but I hope his memory brings a light that will never go out.
