Our deepest sympathy to Michael (Junior), Conor and Amy, and the extended McInerney families at this very sad time. Michael was an outstanding cyclist, including All-Ireland title holder in his younger days, and always a true sportsman. He emigrated to England in 1967 where he kept up his cycling and where he also took up running as he got older. I renewed acquaintance with him some years ago when we were both registering for the Dublin City Marathon and remained great friends and in regular contact to the end.
